We have sent out four emails to our original Save the Date list with the same information below. The date of each email is added below the title. If you received an invitation but not the email and you would like one, please contact us at hello@seikalychen.com.
Third Time’s the Charm
[Sent September 14, 2021]
Hello!
You may have received this information by word of mouth, but just in case you haven’t, consider this our third (and presumably final) save the date: our wedding has been moved to May 21st, 2022.
Along those lines, our venue has moved, too, to Bldg 39. This is a change we’re excited about as it’s much closer to Philadelphia and will allow guests to explore the city much more easily during the weekend. As a result, we also have a new hotel block, which can be found on our website.
We know things aren’t looking great right now pandemic-wise, but we are confident that we’ll be able to host all our guests safely and comfortably come May. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding among the chaos, and we hope you are well.
It’s with great optimism that we say we’re looking forward to seeing you in May!
Best,
Kristen and Jason
The Best Laid Plans…
[Sent March 2, 2021]
Hello, Beloved Guests,
We thank you so much for your patience and understanding for this overdue update. While we imagine it’s not unexpected, that doesn’t make it any easier to send out.
It is with heavy hearts, yet with your safety and enjoyment in mind, that we are postponing our wedding with no future date announced.
Our wedding, for us, has always had one focus: you. They say a wedding is supposed to be about what the couple wants, and what we’ve always really wanted is to just have a good time with our friends and family. We want to celebrate how much you mean to us as individuals and as a couple through a party that has our unique flair to it.
Obviously, we can’t do that if it poses a literal life or death risk to you, and that’s the strange reality the coronavirus has put us in. Still, we want to do everything in our power to celebrate.
We don’t, however, want to keep everyone on edge (including ourselves) by attempting to predict what date won’t pose a life or death risk. So while we don’t feel comfortable setting an actual date, we do want to let you know the conditions we feel must be met in order to set a date.
- The vast majority of both our guests and our vendors must have had a vaccine.
- Federal and state guidelines must say that large gatherings similar to ours are okay.
- Our family and friends must feel comfortable attending an event such as this.
We’re very fortunate that our vendors are being flexible and generous with the state of things. As such, our hope is to reschedule as quickly as possible once the conditions above are met. That could mean another full year out, or it could mean weeks notice. In any case, we will let you know as soon as we do.
We hope you are all well and continuing to stay safe as we approach the one year mark of all this. In the meantime, we will sit in consolation that we hold the trophy for “Most Stressful Wedding Planning Ever” and let that give us some sort of weird solace.
With Love,
Kristen and Jason
Love in the Time of Coronavirus
[Sent June 9, 2020]
Hello Again, Loved Ones!
At a time where we ask ourselves the big questions, questions about how we care for the well-being of others, it feels a little frivolous to think about throwing a party. But we have been thinking about that for you because we know how important it is to find moments of joy and celebration, especially in difficult times. We also know that day to day life doesn’t stop because the world is shifting.
When we moved our original wedding date to August, we knew how tenuous it could be. Still, we did not want to miss the opportunity to give you that moment of celebration sooner rather than later if we could. As we suspected, though, it does not seem that 2020 is the year of big weddings.
Instead, we would like to invite you once more to our wedding on May 22nd, 2021. Details still need to be finalized, but we wanted to let you know as soon as possible so that you could adjust your plans as needed. We will reevaluate our RSVP process next year.
We also hope this will prove a more celebratory date. While our actual wedding will (hopefully) be in 2021 since it’s the one we’ll celebrate with all of you, it will also be the one year anniversary of our legal marriage. We share that to let you know that we have managed to find our own version of joy and connection in the midst of a changing world.
We hope you are all well, and we love you deeply. Should you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Kristen and Jason
Change the Date!
[Sent March 20, 2020]
It is with both great sadness and great hope that we will be changing our wedding date from May 2nd to August 15th of 2020.
This was not an easy decision to reach, but a number of factors indicated it is ultimately the best call. Your health and safety matter to us above all else, and it is in that spirit that we look forward to celebrating our commitment to each other with you in August.
We greatly appreciate everyone who has already returned their RSVP card to us. In the interest of efficiency, we will not send out another invitation aside from this email. Therefore, we ask for your help in keeping our count as accurate as possible.
- If you have already sent in your RSVP card to us, please respond to this email to let us know whether or not our new date changes your plans in any way. We understand if it does.
- If you have not sent in your RSVP card, please do so by July 15th AND indicate that you are responding to the August 15th date.
For those of you with hotel reservations, we are working on changing our hotel blocks as soon as possible. We will notify you of the change and any steps you need to take to move a reservation as soon as we have the details.
Some reports of the pandemic have indicated that we may even be a bit too optimistic with an August date. Since the fall was not an option for us, and we did not want to miss an opportunity to celebrate this year if possible, we appreciate your patience and understanding should we need to postpone once more.
As always, we will continue to update our website, SeikalyChen.com, with the most up-to-date information.
Thank you so much for your understanding and your support. We look forward to celebrating with you soon!
